Siempre he odiado los buses, esperarlos y sufrirlos dentro.
A woken tree
I hate buses. Waiting and sweating are not for me. In spite of the free and convenient shuttle service from cmu, I have chosen to walk -until the snow decides for me. It's around half an hour of watching america inside. Houses with backyards. Backyards with leaves and squirrels eating acorns. The other day I found this woken tree... I think he was telling me: Good morning!

Today I woke up in the morning and started to feel motivated to learn some more at the office and work hard. Only an email stopped me from my working activity.
It was one of those emails that cmu sends us to warn about some electrical outages or some elevator under reparation. Nothing important and very american.
Today it was about some road nearby getting shut down on Saturday. That only can harm to the must-drive people (100% here??). The thing I liked was his signature. Just great:

The Amish and crazy shopping
On Sunday the right thing to do should have been to stay in bed and rest but we had the chance to do a trip to visit the Amish. So we woke up at 9 to drive for 1 hour up north from Pittsburgh. There are two towns where some Amish live.
The Amish live like people used to on the past. They farm and don't use modern machinery. We thought they would live all by themselves, isolated from the 'normal' population, but when we got there it was striking to see how they shared the town. Cars and buggies (Amish horse car) shared the road naturally and normal houses were mixed with houses with blue doors, where a drape shows the marital status of the daughter depending on the position of the drape.
Another fact we learnt is never visit the Amish on Sunday, because it's a holy day and they spend the whole day at home praying with the family. We only got the chance to see some Amish moving from one place to another using their little wagon. I don't have pictures because they are not very keen on them. Respect is always first.
After this interesting trip we stopped on our way back home in some outlet mall and I couldn't resist to buy some ridiculously cheap clothes...

Fiesta mexicana
Mexican party
On Saturday, after recovering from our boss Fernando's party with free beer and 60 people, Manu's Mexican friend Fernando invited us to a party at his place with his family and some other guests.
When we reached his house the typical Mexican family scene was there, with the smiley mother and a lot of good food. Homemade guacamole and nice chili salsa (really hot).
The party ended up being a crazy Mexican party with everyone singing Molotov and a really upset stomach for the complete Sunday. Finally I have tested how little tolerance my body has to strong Mexican chili: my tongue was burning (not literary) and not even home solutions were able to relief the pain for a while. I was dripping on my face: a really funny scene...

It's over
After a great dinner at Fernando's house (our boss) we found this pumpkin market on a church nearby. With this picture i end up my Halloween sessions..

Especial Halloween
Feliz Halloween!
Today is Halloween. For us, Halloween has been going along last week. With Halloween parties from Thursday through Saturday, the start of the week was already stressful.
I had an idea on my mind so while my friends were buying a costume on Tuesday, I was looking for the ingredients of mine. Unfortunately I didnt manage to find them all and I ended up buying a back up costume for Thursday party (Michael Knight).
Friday I managed to create my costume in one hour and I'm proud of the result. I was an Ipod because some workmate was leaving and he spend more than 2 months thinking about buying one, so I though it would be the best good bye present.
Wearing cardboard cases is not that cool and getting inside crowded bars either, but I had some fun with my white costume.
Saturday we went to some drama school party. Drama people have different ideas about life and it was really weird to be there. However, it's easy for the four of us to have fun everywhere so that was not a problem.
So Halloween it's over now and there are 2 things we haven't experienced: carving the pumpkin (too lazy) and trick or treating. Children don't move around cmu, that's why we missed that one :(
Happy Halloween!

One hour to create it from scratch. At least I had all the tools. Only the paint upset me, I was almost not able to cover one single side with the whole spray can...
Grupo Halloween: Javi, Esteban, Michael Knight (Roberto), Ipod (yo) y mexicano (Fernando)
Chaos before Halloween party: Roberto wearing my backup costume and a mexican guy who Manu met somewhere. Javi and Esteban waiting for the right moment to get dressed and scare the population...

NBA during the week
On Wednesday, while having a little break from Halloween, it was time to enjoy our first NBA game (hopefully the last one). Dallas visited Pittsburgh for a preseason game against Cleveland (the closest NBA team from here). The Dallas owner is from Pittsburgh, that might be the only reason for this game to be played.
I don't like basketball so much, but anyway, I think the american way it's just worse. So many extra stuff around the game just makes it loose all the atmosphere and intensity of the game. It's really boring to watch a game where every single minute there is a break so some beer belly guys challenge to make some 3pointers and win a prize...

A bad Monday
Peter was leaving monday morning but we decided to wake up early and have some american breakfast all together. Unfortunately, our car had some other plans for us. I ended up waiting for 3 hours til the road service arrived. I was not able to remove the flat wheel. Now I know that the only thing you need is to have a big wood stick and hit it from the inside of the car...Result: starting to work around 2pm

After the dinner at the church, we decided to use the car to take a little ride to see how Pittsburgh looks like at night. Beautiful!

Despite my smiling face, I was embarrased to pay that amount of money for 1 gallon (almost 4 litres) with the discount of the supermarket card. With these prices it's impossible for the usa people to change their means of transport. I couldn't believe I was paying the same amount to fill the tank of a suv here, than my mopped at home.
The church brewery
Pittsburgh is crowded of rarities and weird stuff. A church converted into a brewery is on the list, so we decided to give it a try for sunday dinner. I would say it's a profanation, but not as bad as the disco-church you can find somewhere else in town. There are too many churches and not all are being used. That's the problem with this city.

Parmani
Descomunal.
Huge. No other word can describe better the 'colossal fish'. In order to save time and avoinding hand washing, all sandwiches sold on this shop include everything inside, even fries and salad. A good place to hide...
The incline
On Sunday, more turisim. We took the car to get to Mount Washington, the best place to watch the amazing city. No coment. We also took a walk to observe closer one of the most important places of the city, the poing, where the two rivers meet.

The incline is the way to have some spectacular sightseen. On the ride you can see some deers and wild turkeys (I'm not sure if they'll reach thanksgiving)
Parada calabaza
Pumpkin stop
On the way home we found this pumpkin outdoor outlet. There were different sizes, so it was not easy to find the right one for our mansion...

On the way home we found the means of tranport that Santa Claus uses during fall: A pick up for his sleigh
A touristy and architectonic Saturday
Getting up early and on the road. A sunny fall day. Everything was forest and colorful leaves as trip partners. We reached the Frank Lloyd Wright’s falling waters house. I think it’s hard to see something more integrated in the environment than this one. It was spectacular. The day was perfect and we enjoyed the hike among leaves and we did also some sightseeing from the inside, the outside and the surroundings of the house.
